Many tricks involve having someone choose a card at random and then you tell them what it was. Almost all of these tricks are achieved by “Forcing” a card. Forcing a card is the process whereby you make sure the card chosen is the card you want to be chosen.

It is after all much easier to "guess" which card a person had chosen if they choose the one you want them to.
